Remember Hobbies?

Every minute of my creative time lately has been scheduled. Finish the collage. Update the inventory. Share my work on social. Checking off tasks on my to-do lists.

I paused for a few minutes to watch my daughter play — her aunt had brought a craft over. Aqua Puffs, they're called. She went about her business carefully coloring in the Puffs, then adding water to “grow” them (think sponge).

The fun little project she was doing made me think about hobbies.

Sometimes it's hard to imagine having some free time and spending it on something completely new. Making something that you don't intend on selling. Trying a hobby that you spend time and money on and end up hating.

Something that doesn't need to become anything.

Maybe that's the point of a hobby — it doesn't have to lead anywhere.

Just something you thought might be fun.
